Mental health has always been a big problem in this country and this past year has shown just how big of a problem it actually is. It has also exposed the glaring lack of help available and the difficulty in obtaining the help that is there. Hopefully, better mental health support will be a positive thing to come out of this pandemic (if there is such a thing as positivity in a crisis) but here at This is Me, we’re not waiting for that.
This is Me has always been committed to supporting our clients, support workers and staff, not only with employment support but also with their physical and mental health and to that end, we are partnering with Health Assured (https://www.healthassured.org/), one of the country’s leading providers of health and wellbeing, to do just that.
Health Assured offer a comprehensive list of services including:
-
A 24 hour, 365 days a year confidential helpline where callers have access to experienced counsellors, legal and financial experts and other professionals.
-
Formal counselling sessions either face-to-face or via telephone/online.
-
Critical Incident Support which allows for a trauma counsellor or team to be onsite ready to deal with specialist group counselling as needed.
-
An online portal and app that allows the user to customise their needs and get information on the issues that matter most to them.
Accredited by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) amongst others, we are extremely excited to be able to offer such a fantastic list of services. Having access to this kind of support has shown to reduce workplace stress by as much as 35% and it can also boost return-to-work rates by up to 71% which can make a massive difference. Happy and healthy employees are much more productive.
The service isn’t just limited to only dealing with workplace stress. Health Assured offer support and advice for both personal and professional problems, including (but certainly not limited to:
-
Legal information and advice
-
Financial concerns
-
Dealing with bereavement or loss
-
Family issues such as childcare or caring for the elderly
-
Housing and tenancy worries
All of these issues can initially be accessed by the helpline but if more in-depth assistance is needed, face-to-face counselling can be provided.
As a client, a regular contracted support worker or staff member of This is Me you will be given access to all of these services, which will then be yours for the duration of your time with us. Good health is about so much more than physical or mental wellbeing in the workplace, it’s about taking care of all of the worries that can affect us on a day-to-day basis that impact how we do our jobs and relate to the people around us. Our aim has always been to help everyone succeed and thrive in whatever environment they’re in and hopefully, this new service will only make that easier.
If you’re interested in becoming a client or support worker for This is Me and you’d like to know more, then please do get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!
